Little Things That Make a Big Impact on Conservation

The home you live in, and the surroundings, you probably worked really hard for it, right?  You aren?t likely to leave trash all over, or not clean it ever, just letting it rot away while you live among the garbage, correct?  Well, that is exactly what we are doing to this planet, the difference is, we just cannot see it as easily as you can see the effects of leaving trash around your home.  There are big steps and little steps we are all capable of taking in order to start cleaning up our true home, earth.  If you are looking to make a difference, you should start with small steps, and then move on to larger contributions.  By doing this, you can help educate others who are not ready for the larger contributions on how they can help out in small ways daily.  This article will hopefully give you some ideas on things you can do around the home that can and WILL help this struggling environment.

First, one of the most important things you can do is be aware of your surroundings.  That is, if you are walking down the street, and you see trash, pick it up.  Every little bit helps and does make a difference.  Part of the reason we are in the mess we are in is because too many of us just say, well, what?s the difference, someone is just going to throw trash on the street again.  I know, because I used to be that person too.  But, I can?t stress enough that it is tremendously important, every seemingly little step you take to help out.

Start buying biodegradable products from the store.  They are there, and they don?t cost much more money, if at all, and they can make a world of difference in our garbage dumps.  Also, stop wasting things.  Eat everything you make or order, don?t waste food.  Same goes for clothing and other goods.  Do your best to purchase things that you will get a lot of use out of for many years to come.  If you are tired of that old sweatshirt, then cut it into strips and use it for rags and dusters.  Or, donate it to the local goodwill, and shop there as well for things that you might need in the home.

These are just some ideas to get you started, there are many, many more ways to contribute.  One big idea I will leave you with, coordinate community garbage-pickup days around your neighborhood, maybe 2x per year.  Get everyone involved, and let everyone see the magnitude of difference you can all make by just a few hours of pitching in on a weekend!
